Mourning and Moving On

by Robert Pavlik

I want to cut my hair
Mix it with tears
And earth
Smear it on my chest and back
While wailing
Moaning
Sobbing
Only to fall asleep
From exhaustion
Wake with a sudden start
Stretch
Fart
Read the paper
Drink coffee
Take a leak
And start all over again
Until there's no more hair to cut
Tears to shed
Mud to rub
Hose me
Dry me
Feed me
Let's go to a movie
When we get home
I'll sit up in the dark
For a little while
Before coming to bed
In the morning
I'll pick fruit and flowers
Walk the dog
Stumble on a memory
Slowly rise and
Look both ways
Before moving on
