Holistic Health vs. Corporate Wealth

PART 2: Supportive treatments for cancer

opinion by Dr. John F. Ruhland, Free Press contributor

One doctor who has been quietly pioneering the use of innovative new therapies is seventy-seven year old Dr. Leo Bolles. He is one of the first medical doctors in the area to use holistic treatments for chronic illnesses such as cancer and AIDS. I was unprepared for what I would see in the time I have spent with him and his patients with cancer. When I began working with Dr. Bolles, I was expecting him to have somewhat better results than other medical doctors in treating people with cancer, because his holistic treatments focus on strengthening the immune system, and because the statistics for other MDs and oncologists are so poor.

However, I was astounded at the magnitude of the success Dr. Bolles has in helping people with cancer. Patients show improvement often in as little as a few months or even weeks.

With a few notable exceptions, Washington state MDs who use holistic therapies tend to keep a low profile to prevent the very conservative Medical Quality Assurance Commission (MEDQUAC), a state medical disciplinary board, from revoking their licenses. The examples of MDs in Washington state--such as Dr. Bolles, Dr. Warner, and Dr. Wright--clearly demonstrate MEDQUAC's suppression of innovation. It seems cold-blooded when one considers that tens of thousands of lives are cut short and end painfully with mainstream treatments. In this article, I will focus on one therapy--the use of pancreatic enzymes--and touch on several others.

Treatments vary from doctor to doctor, depending on what treatment a particular doctor learned and found effective. There is not a single "best" way to treat people with cancer. Most holistic doctors who successfully treat people with cancer learn about specific therapies from other doctors at conferences. At conventional allopathic medical schools, they learn only that these holistic therapies are considered "quackery." In the future, more people will learn what patients of the Bolles Clinic and people in groups like Cancer Victors and Friends, as well as holistic physicians already have learned, that holistic therapy is extremely effective. Naturopaths learn a wide range of therapies, and usually focus on one or a few that they find to work best for them.

According to the Beardian theory, cancer is often due to stress on the pancreas and a resulting lack of pancreatic enzymes. According to Dr. Leo Bolles and Al Schaeffer of Cancer Victors and Friends, treatments based upon this theory have proven to be very successful clinically. Better still, such treatment is inexpensive and easy to implement. It involves taking pancreatic enzymes between meals, with meals, and before sleep. To monitor results, the AMAS test is useful. The AMAS test detects antibodies that the body produces to fight cancer cells. It will detect pre-malignant conditions in the body before any other test will. The AMAS test is considered to be 95% accurate, and if repeated, it is 99% accurate. In advanced cancers, the test is often negative. If advanced cancer is suspected, other tests are important to do in conjunction with the AMAS test.

In combination with using pancreatic enzymes, it is necessary for most people to avoid iron, which stimulates cancer. Drinking fresh carrot juice using organically grown carrots three to five times per day is also very useful. To this can be added celery, spinach (or other dark green leafy vegetables), parsley, comfrey, beets, ginger, and other vegetables. It is beneficial to take one to two tablespoons of flax seed oil from organically grown flax seeds daily. Since a very large percentage of people with cancer have low stomach acid, this is another important area to treat. Anyone with mercury amalgam fillings (so called "silver" fillings), or other dental mercury should have these removed.

I make no apologies to the stockholders and members of the board of corporations in the medical-industrial complex. If you want to get over cancer, it's a good idea to consider the advice of a holistic practitioner. What is known in the field as the "slash, burn, and poison" of mainstream allopathic medicine can suppress the immune system, leaving a patient open to more illnesses in the future.

Note: This information presented above should not be construed as stating that there is a cure for cancer, although many patients go into complete remission following some very simple treatments based upon boosting the immune system. It should also not be construed as medical advice, but as one physician's opinion on general medical issues of importance. Readers should seek a variety of information about any health concern before they choose a course of treatment from a personal physician.
